The dictionary has been prepared, drawing heavily from the Vedantasara. But, to understand the terms given here, some background is needed. This has been provided in the two essays give in part one. The first essay, The Advaita Vedanta Darsana, gives a brief history of the school and presents its essential teachings, including the later ramifications, in a nutshell. The second essay, Sadananda's Vedantasara, summarises the salient features of this work. The dictionary itself is given in part two.
The important thing is how much less you think of the body, of yourself as matter -- as dead, dull, insentient matter; how much more you think of yourself as shining immortal being. The more you think of yourself as spirit, the more eager you will be to be absolutely free from matter, body and senses. This is the intense desire to be free.
