The author, Dr. K.V. Raghupati, through this booklet attempts to create awareness of mudras, or 'yoga through hands' as he calls it. While it may be difficult for the aged or the sick to practise asanas and even pranayama, anyone anywhere can practise these simple yet powerful mudras to rejuvenate the energy levels and recover from the many of the illness afflicting the body and mind.
Those who have succeeded in attaching or detaching their minds at will have succeeded in Pratyahara, which means gathering towards, checking the outgoing powers of the mind, freeing it from the thralldom of the senses. When we can do this, we shall really possess character; then alone we shall have taken a long step towards freedom. Before that, we are mere machines.
