Of the six sections of the Ramayana, the present volume comprises the fifth. Consisting as it does of 2885 Sanskrit verses, the Sundarakandam deals with the heroic exploits of Hanuman in one day and night, during which he crossed over to Sri Lanka, discovered Sita, inflicted crushing defeat on Rakshasa forces, set fire to Lanka and flew back to convey the news of Sita to Rama. Text in Sanskrit with English translation.
When we can attach the mind to -- or detach it from -- the sense at our will, we shall really possess character. Then alone we shall have taken a long step towards freedom; before that, we are mere machines.
-Swami Vivekananda
